Dear Parents,

Happy New Year and welcome back! I hope your holidays and time spent with family and friends was enjoyable. I have good hopes going into the New Year and believe it or not, with the second quarter ending on Dec. 20th, we are already halfway through the school year. In the upcoming months you can expect that students will be very busy between now and the end of the school year. Please check out the calendar of events above for a complete list the dates of upcoming events (Spelling Bee, Denali Science Fair, Create a Community contest, Spring Break, SBA testing).

Currently, students are busy completing “mini” science projects and preparing oral presentations to help prepare them for the Denali Science Fair. We will have an in-class science fair very soon, with the exact date to be determined later, and parents are encouraged to attend. Please look for more information on the homework log. In addition to this science work, students will also begin writing monthly book reports. Please read the academic section of the newsletter for more information about academics around the room.

Dear Parents,

Well, despite all good intentions, it appears that our class newsletter will only be published monthly. In addition to the duties that I have as a classroom teacher, I am also involved in several after school activities here at Denali that consume large amounts of my time. But if you would like any information about what is happening in class, please feel free to email me. Otherwise, please remember to check your email monthly for information letting you know that the newsletter if ready for viewing.

In preparation for the Holiday Night (Dec. 14th) gift basket auction, our class has been given a coffee basket theme. Please consider donating an item to put inside the basket. Any donation, big or small, would be greatly appreciated. Donations must be received on or before December 13th!
