How To Be A Model Montessori Parent

Citizenship

  • Attend Montessori Advisory Board (MAC) and Parent Teacher Association (PTA) meetings.
  • Join a committee.
  • Head a committee.
  • Organize a committee.
  • Hold and office.
  • Donate materials.
  • Send in $50 pledge per child.
  • Help with additional fundraisers.

Parent Education

  • Read about Montessori (Use the Professional Section in the Denali School Library.)
  • Subscribe to Public School Montessorian.
  • Attend Montessori guest lectures.

Classroom

  • Volunteer to help whenever possible.
  • Work in your child’s classroom on a regular basis.
  • Formally observe your child twice a year.
  • Attend material making workshops.

Social

  • Attend school functions.
  • Join a carpool.
  • Encourage children in extra-curricular activities such as the boy scout and girl scout programs and Imaginarium nights.

Parenting

  • Read to your child every day.
  • Attend Parent/Teacher Conferences
  • Set aside a time and place for homework.
  • Use Montessori in the home by providing a child size area in each room.
