Denali PTA Minutes - November 6, 2007 Meeting


1. Membership
61 members (up from 45 last year)
Have 403 students at Denali (15% of families at the school)
Can access PTA national/state web site to get magazine, info is on back of the PTA membership card
2. Budget Review
Balance 9/30–$XX,XXX+ includes Community schools, deceptive because of the payroll for Community Schools
10/31 balance $XX, XXX+
Fall carnival $3600+ increase of 45%
Toni Walker will coordinate next year’s carnival, she was the parent who donated most of the Big Deal Door Prizes
additional profit was almost exactly Big deal door prizes,
Need to restock prizes for next year’s fall carnival (did not need to purchase this year)

Community Schools: Linda Klinkart coordinator
Will have community schools $$ into PTA General budget-$XXXX inflow to
PTA budget next month
Profit of $3-4000 each semester
$2000 paid out for AIS
Want to coordinate with the staff and parents for meeting needs of the school
Will discuss possible spending at Dec. meeting

3. Reading Program Needs
Want to supplement reading due to loss of Title One
Currently have 8 volunteers
Need a coordinator to meet with teachers and volunteers
Kate and Ann will meet with volunteers on a Sat for training: date will be set
Need to match volunteer per room to help with needy readers, mostly primary classes
He/she will Coordinate, schedule, and organize
Computer lab upstairs for intermediate needs because of Concord Consortium grant
ASD has given $8000+ for a LOG in reading: currently looking at DRA scores
4. Events
Book Fair: Linda and Jackie have done a good job—one or two to promote one event rather than one struggle with all events
AIS: next week with a family fun night next Friday Circus Arts 6:30-8:30
Problem solving SEL, Team building
PTA Legislative Events program this weekend: Friday night, Sat. and Sun. at Hanshew Middle school

Sub committee possibilities: need volunteers to help out with these
Community schools
Membership
Fund Raising to manage moneymakers
Ways to spend $$$
Volunteer to help with Quicken on MAC for budget
