Mac Subcommittees
At the last MAC/PTA meeting, parents had many excellent suggestions for MAC and PTA. Thank you! MAC would like to implement many of these suggestions and is looking for volunteers to sit on subcommittees. Some of the suggestions included exploring grant opportunities, organizing teacher wish lists, sponsoring teacher training, promoting escrip, having a spring quilt & craft auction and having MAC listed during charitable giving drives. If you are interested in helping to organize an event or activity, please contact Sarah Moyer at smoyer@acsalaska.net.

Ordering Materials
Inventorying, ordering, tracking and distributing Montessori materials is essential, but time consuming. This year, MAC would like to establish a subcommittee of volunteers to assist with materials. DeeAnn Apgar will be happy to train you. Please consider helping with a portion of the materials process. For more information, please contact DeeAnn at deeannk@gci.net or Sarah Moyer.

Classroom/Workroom Volunteers
If you have time during the day, consider volunteering in a classroom or helping a teacher make materials or copies. Ask your child’s teacher how you can help, and offer to help other teachers as well.

Room Parents
We still need Room Parents for most primary and intermediate classrooms. For more information, contact Betsy Goudreau at bdgoudreau@hotmail.com.

Listen to Students Read
Listening to students read is a wonderful and rewarding way to volunteer. Please contact the PTA at denalipta@hotmail.com for more information.

Library Volunteers
Contact Ms. Nelson if you would like to help shelve books.

Event Volunteers
Volunteers are needed for:

Scholastic Book Fair 11/7-8 (PTA)

Barnes & Noble Book Fair and Gift Wrap 11/24 (MAC)

Holiday Night and Gift Basket Auction 12/14 (MAC)

Fall Carnival Notes

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

Volunteers are still needed. Some great people signed up at the back to school picnic and we will try to contact them. Check with your child’s teacher and see if you can help run their fun booth. We also need help with advanced ticket sales before and after school, with set-up and clean-up. You can leave your name and contact information in PTA box in the front office or contact me swelltimchrtrs@yahoo.com. This is always a lot of fun for not only the kids, but staff and parents too.

Thank you,
Jim Lee

Book Fair Blizzard

Friday, October 12th, 2007

books.jpgJoin us in sharing a love of reading with our students at Denali’s Scholastic Book Fair on Nov. 6th, 7th & 8th. It’s a great way to connect your kids with books they want to read! We need lots of volunteers to make this fair a success. To volunteer, contact the co-chairs, add your name to the sign up sheet on the PTA bulletin board at school, or visit the Denali website at www.denalischool.org and click on the book fair link. One way everyone can help is to spread the word. Your family, friends, neighbors, and business partners might also want to visit our fair. Everyone wins - they get great, affordable books and the Denali PTA gets a percentage of sales! Click here to visit their website and to sign up to volunteer.

Thanks for all the help in making our first meeting successful.

A sign up sheet for Fall Carnival booths will be in the downstairs workroom. Please list the booth name, your name as a contact and anything you need from PTA in order to make your booth work. Parents, please check with your classroom teacher to see if they need assistance. We will alos be requesting cake walk items and door prizes in the next couple weeks.

The carnival is Friday, October 26 from 6:00 to 8:00. We plan to serve hot dogs, pizza, chips, and/or fruit and veggies, and bottled water.

October 26 is also picture retake day, in the morning. We are inviting parents of the preschoolers to drop in for their pictures as they were not here on picture day.

Busy day - October 26 is also tie-dye day. Students are invited to wear tie-dye to school that day.

The Pumpkin Carvind display will be Monday, October 29 through Wednesday, October 31. Everyone will receive a participation prize.

We are still working on the reading program. Matching up times takes a little back and forth. Volunteer and tutoring needs info are still trickling in. Thanks for your patience.
